Abstract:
To produce a new compound useful as an intermediate for producing a sulfamoylurea herbicide.
This compound is represented by formula I {R is H, CN, F, formyl, a (substituted) 1-4C alkyl, etc.; X is NO2 or NR1R2 [R1 and R2 are each H, formyl, a (substituted)benzyl, etc.]; Z is OH, Br, Cl or OSO2R3 (R3 is a 1-6C alkyl, etc.)}, e.g. 4-(o-anilino)-3-butyn-1-ol. The compound represented by formula I is produced by reacting a halobenzene represented by formula II (Hal is Cl, I or Br) with at least one mol equiv. butyne compound represented by formula III in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a palladium (II) catalyst and a copper (I) catalyst and further an organic amine.
