PURPOSE: To easily enhance the earthquake resistance of an existing exterior wall in remolding the exterior wall.
CONSTITUTION: In remodeling an existing exterior wall 4 having a skeleton consisting of a sill 1, a plurality of posts 2a, 2b, 2c erected on the sill 1 at intervals, and a beam 3 stretched over and secured to the posts 2a, 2b, 2c, brace fasteners 5 each of which has a plate part 5a and a cylindrical part 5b formed on the outside of the plate part 5a are secured to the junction between one 2b of the different posts 2a, 2b, 2c and the sill 1 and to the junction between another post 2a and the beam 3, from outside the existing exterior wall 4, while the plate parts 5a stretch over both of the members at each junction. Externally threaded parts 7a provided at both ends of each brace 7 are passed through the cylindrical parts 5b of both of the brace fasteners 5, and nuts 8a are fitted around the externally threaded parts 7a, so that after the braces are stretched between and secured to both of the poles 2a, 2b, a new wall is provided on the outside of the existing exterior wall 4 via a plurality of furring strips, with the new wall covering the braces 7 and the fasteners 5.
