Abstract:

To effectively damp elongation or contraction in the axial direction of a column and horizontal deformation at a column capital at the occurrence of an earthquake by performing aseismatic reinforcement of an independent column in a piloti building or columns in various other buildings.

Vertical vibration control members 11 provided in the building so that the intermediate parts are plastically deformed yielding under the action of tensile stress or compressive stress of a prescribed value or more, are disposed parallel with the independent column 6, and an upper portion 13a and a lower portion 13b, which hold the intermediate yield portion 12 in between, of the vertical vibration control member 11 are fastened to the independent column 6.
