This ash melter burns the unburnt content discharged from an ash melting furnace 9 for melting the ash content in a secondary combustion chamber 24 by high temperature gas; arranges a slag tap 38 in a lower part of a slag chamber 41 for connecting the ash melting furnace 9 and the secondary combustion chamber 24; connects a slag dropping cylinder 39 for sealing the lower end by water to the slag tap 38; and is provided with a hot gas bypass part 44 for communicating the slag dropping cylinder 39 and a lower part of the secondary combustion chamber 24. At this time, a blowing-in pipe 48 is arranged in the hot gas bypass part 44 for blowing in a hydraulic fluid in the direction for sending hot gas from the slag tap 38 in the secondary combustion chamber 24, and a temperature drop and solidification of the slag are prevented by heightening a temperature of the slag tap 38 and the slag dropping cylinder 39.
