Title:
MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3153176
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which suppresses the phenomenon that noise increases owing to storage and has high output in short wavelength recording with ≤0.8 μm median recording wavelength required for a small-sized high image quality videotape, etc.
SOLUTION: A magnetic coating film contg. a magnetic metal powder and an inorg. powder having a Mohs hardness of ≥5 is formed on one side of a substrate and a back coat layer contg. carbon black in the form of aggregates or primary particles having a larger diameter than the major axis size of the magnetic metal powder is formed on the other side to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The magnetic coating film has surface smoothness represented by ≤0.004 μm center line average roughness.
