Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel asphalt emulsion composition which can form a suppressed sticky and tough asphalt film.
SOLUTION: The asphalt emulsion composition comprises at least an emulsifying agent for asphalt and a colloidal silica, the above emulsifying agent being at least one member selected from the group consisting of cationic, anionic and nonionic emulsifying agents for asphalt, and the above colloidal silica being at least one member selected from the group consisting of cationic, anionic and nonionic colloidal silicas, and the above colloidal silica being incorporated in an amount of 5-100 pts.wt. relative to 100 pts.wt. of the above emulsifying agent for asphalt; use being made of, as the above colloidal silica, one subjected to an acidifying treatment with an acid, when control of viscosity and decomposability is necessary.
