Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an asphalt emulsion and an asphalt latex emulsion excellent in storage stability by using a sulfonic acid (salt) of an alkyl or alkenyl ester of a fatty acid having a specific number of carbon atoms as an emulsifying agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) An asphalt emulsion containing asphalt, water and a sulfonic acid (salt) of an alkyl or alkenyl ester of a fatty acid having 8-18, preferably 10-16 number of carbon atoms in the fatty acid residue and 4-12, preferably 6-10 number of carbon atoms in the alkyl or alkenyl groups, preferably a compound expressed by the formula (R<1> is alkyl; R<2> is 4-12C alkyl or alkenyl; M is counter ion and H, alkali metal, etc.) as an emulsifying agent. Fox example, an asphalt emulsion obtained by dissolving the aforementioned emulsifying agent in water, and mixing the resultant solution with the asphalt in a homogenizer, etc. (B) An asphalt latex emulsion containing asphalt, water, a latex and the emulsifying agent of the asphalt emulsion (A).
