Abstract:
To provide an effective method for treating a female suffering from female sexual dysfunction (FSD), in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction (FSAD).
A method for assaying an agent capable of potentiating cAMP in the sexual genitalia of the female suffering from female sexual dysfunction, in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction is provided. The agent is an inhibitor of neuropeptide Y (I:NPY). A method and a kit for detecting female sexual dysfunction, in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction are provided. Non-human animal models, including an anesthetized female animal having a means for measuring change of genitalial blood flow of the animal accompanied with pelvic nerve stimulation, for identifying the agent for treating female sexual dysfunction, in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction are provided.
