Title:
ASSEMBLED TYPE CAMSHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1113422
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the slip off of a ring-like member by separating the inner peripheral part of the ring-like member by a specified distance from the end part of a pipe for connecting, after the pipe is inserted into the ring-like member, the ring-like member to the outer periphery of the pipe by expanding the pipe. SOLUTION: An assembled type camshaft used for an internal combustion engine inserts a journal 3 as a ring-like member into the end part of a steel pipe 1 and then connects both to be integral by expandingly machining its diameter. In this case, the journal 3 is separated from the end part of the diameter-expanded steel pipe 1 by a specified distance (projecting amount) L and, at the time of diameter expansion of the steel pipe 1, the steel pipe 1 is laterally deformed symmetrically around the rough center of the journal 3 and, accordingly, the slip off of the journal 3 from the steel pipe 1 is prevented. The projecting amount L is more effective for preventing the slip off of the journal 3 as it as larger, but its lower limit value is set equal to 2 mm or more.
