To provide an assembling method of a toroidal continuously variable transmission for performing: a press-in process of pressing inner races of bearings in a power transmission member; and an inserting process of inserting outer races of the bearings into shaft holes of a housing, in the different timing.
This assembling method of the toroidal continuously variable transmission is provided for performing the press-in process of pressing the inner races 23 and 26 in the outer periphery of the power transmission member 11, the inserting process of inserting the outer races 23 and 26 into the shaft holes 33 and 34 of a support mechanism 29, and a preload applying process of applying a preload by applying a load in the direction along the axis A1 to the outer races 24 and 27, by preparing the power transmission member 11, preparing the bearings 21 and 22 of interposing rolling elements 25 and 28 between the inner races 23 and 26 and the outer races 24 and 27, and preparing the support mechanism 29 for holding the outer races 24 and 27. The inserting process is performed after performing the press-in process by preparing a load applying member 37 constituted as a separate part from the support mechanism 29 and applying the load to the outer races 24 and 27.
