PURPOSE: To eliminate the labor for positioning, holding and welding transverse material and reduce a term of works by welding continuously the transverse material positioned and held on foundation carriage and the skin material placed thereon with a traveling type automatic welding device.
CONSTITUTION: Many foundation carriages 3 on many parallel rails in an assembling area are moved in conformity with transverse spaces and the excess carriages 3 are held retreated. Spacers of suitable lengths conforming to a lounge pitch are mounted to the front and rear surfaces of moving carriages 6 and the excess carriages 6 are held retreated. Grasping bodies 8, 10 are moved downward by a moving body 9 and the transverse materials 7 hoisted therefrom are placed on the carriages 6 with the materials 7 held at one end in contact with the reference body 11 on the end part of the carriages. Thereupon, the bodies 8, 10 are moved upward to hold the materials 7 and skin materials 19 with lounge materials 20 are brought over the materials 7. The materials 7 and all the carriages 6 are moved in a direction A to position the materials 7 to the materials 20 and to place the materials 19 on the materials 7. A positioning device 14 is projected to move the materials 7 and all the carriages 6 in a direction B, by which the one end of the material 7 is brought into contact with the body 11 and is positioned. Welding is accomplished by each lounge block.
