To provide a caulked assembly, in which it is not necessary to provide a flange part in the midway of a column-like body and to manufacture a complicated special shape, which can be manufactured easily and inexpensively and can keep sufficient assembling strength even when it is a thin plate-like body, a method and an apparatus for manufacturing the assembly.
This method comprises: a stage where a mounting hole 20 for inserting and assembling the column-like body 3 into the metallic plate-like body 2 is provided and also a thick part 21 is formed along the inner periphery of the mounting hole; a stage where a peripheral groove 30 having a prescribed depth in the assembling position of the outer peripheral surface of the column-like body which is inserted into the mounting hole of the metallic plate-like body; a stage where the column-like body is inserted into the mounting hole of the metal plate-like body and the thick part and the peripheral groove are set in the opposing assembling positions and a caulking stage where the thick part is made to bite into the peripheral groove of the column-like body by plastically deforming the thick part in the center direction of the mounting hole by compressively pressing the thick part from the axial direction.
