Abstract:
To provide a system and method for manufacturing a composite component.SOLUTION: A method includes: laying up a preform on a lay-up mandrel 110 for defining a contour for a composite component 250 and a portion of a mandrel 110 located over a boundary 202 of the composite component 250; and curing the preform to the composite component 250 with a feature 210 with an index formed. A system includes the mandrel 110 having a lay-up area for laying up the preform for the composite component 250 having a final outer periphery, an excessively manufactured part area arranged over the final outer periphery, and a surface feature in an area for forming the feature 210 with an index in the preform.
