PURPOSE: To facilitate pressure reduction-heat insulation by fixing a casing cover to the casing of a latent heat storage unit and coupling the cover airtightly, interrupting heat insulation and pressure reduction and opening a pressure reduction chamber before taking out a motor vehicle latent heat storage unit.
CONSTITUTION: An assembly of a casing 3 and a latent heat storage unit 2 is fixed to a pressure reduction chamber 11 having means 12 for fixing a casing cover 8. The casing cover 8 is fixed to a corresponding open part of the casing 3 and the entirety is placed in the pressure reduction chamber 11 which is then exhausted and brazed. When the casing 3 and the latent heat storage unit 2 are placed in the pressure reduction chamber 11, the chamber 11 is closed, exhausted and pressure is reduced adiabatically. In the pressure reduction chamber 11, the cover 8 is fixed to the casing 3 which is jointed airtightly to the cover 8. The cover 8 is subjected to welding or brazing after the casing is exhausted. Consequently, heat insulation and pressure reduction are stopped, the pressure reduction chamber 11 is opened and a motor vehicle latent heat storage unit 1 is taken out.
