Abstract:

To provide an easily manufacturable, compact assisting mechanism used in a vise in which a large assisting force is generated at the stroke end in axial direction using a number of high hardness spheres as interposing media.

A plurality of spheres are distributed between a cylinder and a ram 7 fitted in the cylinder in such a way as movable in the axial direction, and the ram 7 is pressed by pushing part thereof so as to move in the radial direction, and thereby an assisting force is generated. The distribution of spheres is such as to divide the circumference in equal segments substantially, and they are composed of receptacle spheres 10 set in rows in the axial arrangement and intrusive spheres 11 distributed on one pitch circle different from the pitch circle diameter on which the receptacle spheres are installed in such a way that each contacts with at least two receptacle spheres adjoining in the axial direction, and a pushing member 8 pushes the intrusive spheres distributed on the same pitch circle simultaneously in the radial direction.
