PURPOSE: To obtain an associative storage system capable of correctly associating an associative storage item relating to an input without increasing the capacity of a storage dictionary by providing the system with plural three-layer feedback associative storage models each of which has a mutually suppressing connection in its intermediate layer and a connection part for connecting among the plural models by connection having the weight of respective intermediate layers.

CONSTITUTION: The associative storage system consists of plural three-layer feedback associative storage models 11 to 13 each of which has the mutually suppressing connection in its intermediate layer and the connection part 14 for connecting the elements of respective intermediate layers. For instance the modles 11 to 13 are allocated to the I/O of three associative items, i.e., a chrominance signal, a shape signal and an aroma signal. Plural three-layer associative storage models 11 to 13 expressing mutually different concepts are connected through their intermediate layers and variable and dispersed input patterns are dynamically converted into code-like intermediate layer output patterns to associatively store various storage items relating to the inputs. Since respective models are connected through the compressively expressed intermediate layers, storage capacity to be connection weight is not increased.
