PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a metal-substituted cyclopropylmethanol derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for medicines, etc., in high optical purity and high yield by reacting a specific metal-substituted allyl alcohol with an dialkylzinc, etc., in the presence of a specific optically active metal complex, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A metal-substituted allyl alcohol of formula I [R1 and R3 each is a (substituted) alkyl, (substituted) aromatic, etc.; X is Si or Sn] is reacted with a dialkylzinc and iodomethane in the presence of a catalytic amount of an optically active metal complex of formula II [R6 is a (substituted) alkyl or (substituted) aromatic; M is Zn or Al to which a 1-5C alkyl is bound] or its antipode to provide the objective metal-substituted cyclopropylmethanol derivative of formula III.
