To use components of a chuck whose holding members are synchronously opened/closed as they are by providing a time-difference air feeder means for completing the closing operation of a holding member by one piston rod with large operation force earlier than the closing operation of the other holding member.
Respective piston rods 4a, 4b are interlocked with respective holding members... 5b via respective levers 7a, 7b and open/close the respective holding members 5a, 5b by the drive of respective piston 3a, 3b. In this case, the diameter of one piston rod 4b is formed into relatively larger than the other so that a difference in the pressure receiver areas is formed between the respective pistons 3a, 3b by the difference in the diameters between the respective piston rods 4a, 4b. This causes to have the difference in the closing operation drive forces between the respective holding members ... 5b. A throttle, or a time-difference air feeder means for relatively delaying the closing operation of the holding member 5b is provided in a rod side channel 12 penetrating the respective piston 3a, 3b so as to delay the flow rate of the compressed air to one cylinder 2b.
