PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the icing to a heat transfer pipe effectively dehumidifying air to be cooled to cool the same to subzero level.
SOLUTION: A body 1 is erected and the lower end thereof is set to an inlet 2 and the upper end thereof is set to an outlet 3. Heat exchangers 4, 6, 8 are successively arranged from below to above within the body 1 and a heat transfer pipe 10 is arranged as a final stage heat exchanger. Compressed air A subjected to heat exchange in the order of the multistage heat exchangers 4, 6, 8 to be cooled is cooled to 0°C or less by the heat transfer pipe 10 to be taken out of the outlet 3. A dehumidifier 14 is arranged to the front stage of the heat transfer pipe 10. The rising compressed air A is brought into contact with ethylene glycol successively allowed to overflow a first and second overflow plates 16, 19 constituting the dehumidifier 14 and, when moisture in the compressed air A is removed to be subjected to the heat exchange with the heat transfer pipe 10, freezing is prevented.
