Abstract:

To improve adhesion and reduce cost relating to the treatment of a reinforcement cord.

The invention comprises the steps of: (A) atomizing a mixture of at least one polymerizable monomer 15, a halogenated saturated hydrocarbon 17, and a carrier gas 13 to form an atomized mixture 21; (B) generating an atmospheric pressure plasma 24 from the atomized mixture; and (C) exposing the tire cord to the atmospheric pressure plasma under conditions suitable to form a polymer strongly bonded to the tire cord 26 and capable of being bonded to rubber.
