Title:
ATOMIC VAPOR LASER-ISOTOPE SEPARATION OF LEAD-210 ISOTOPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1170323
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove Pb-210 from natural lead in high reliability at a low cost by a method wherein near resonance excitation of one photon at one or more Rydberg level, two photons resonance excitation, field ionization following that, and static electircity extraction are contained. SOLUTION: At time to, after an isotope prepared from a Pb source 110 enters a zone 140, laser excites a<210> Pb isotope to a Rydberg state. At time t1 , an extractor collector 120 is charged with negative. Successively attraction force between the extractor collector 120 and a field ionization Rydberg atom + attracts<210> Pb atom in the direction of the extractor collector 120. A momentum of a nonionization atom transports those atoms to the product collector 130. The arrow 160 represents a channel of the atom +, and the arrow 150 represents a channel wherein a non-ionization atom successively passes through an apparatus 100. Further at a time t2 , Pb being a by-product is collected to the extractor collector 120 charged yet at negative, and the remaining refined Pb is collected to the product collector 130.
