Plural programs are included, one program includes at least two kinds of audio data streams, and each audio data stream includes at least two subordinate audio streams. This audio channel selecting method is for A/V data streams having a series of IDs based on specific priority while the subordinate audio streams do not overlap. When a program is switched, whether or not there is a subordinate audio data stream with the same channel ID as a channel ID added to the subordinate audio data stream of a reproduction program before the switching is retrieved and when the subordinate audio data stream is present, it is selected.
