Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compression rate of a multi-channel sound signal. SOLUTION: A mix and matrix circuit 1' mixes 6ch-PCM data by addition and subtraction and takes correlation of each channel in accordance with a prescribed formula in each of collation circuits 1-1 to 1-n, and a predictive residual in each channel is calculated on the basis of these correlation data by each prediction circuit 15, and minimum data out of these predictive residuals is selected by a predictor selection signal generator 17a, and is it supplied to a formatting circuit 19 through a packing circuit 18, and a prescribed bit stream is subjected to processing like formatting in this circuit 19 and is transmitted through a prescribed communication line.
