The austenitic stainless steel sheet for an automobile fuel tank uses an austenitic stainless steel sheet in which elongation at break on working by uniaxial stretching is ≥50%, and having a work hardening ratio of ≤400 N/mm2 as a base material. A resin film consisting of a carboxyl group- containing urethane resin having an elastic modulus of 1,000 to 60,000 N/cm2 at 100°C, and in which solid lubricant grains are dispersed in a ratio of 1 to 35 mass% is formed on the surface of the base material. Thus, the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of austenitic stainless steel is utilized, and the volatilization of stored gasoline can be prevented over a long period.
