To provide an authentication system and an authentication method capable of improving security against unauthorized use.SOLUTION: In a key terminal 3, a plurality of pieces of ID information Did are stored so that a plurality of operation objects 1 can be operated by one key. When operating a first operation object 1a by the key terminal 3, first ID information Did 1 is authenticated. When operating a second operation object 1b by the key terminal 3, second ID information Did 2 is authenticated. A determination part 21 determines a positional relation of the operation object 1 and the key terminal 3 by communication between the operation object 1 and the key terminal 3. In the case where the key terminal 3 receives radio waves from communication modules 12 of the plurality of operation objects 1, out of the plurality of operation objects 1, a setting part 22 sets the operation object 1 based on a determination result of the determination part 21 as a communication partner of the key terminal 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
