Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an authentication rate without changing the security level of the whole authentication system.SOLUTION: An authentication system 1 comprises an IC card 100 and an authentication device 200, and flag information indicating a method for authenticating a user and authentication reference information used for the method for authenticating are predefined between the IC card 100 and the authentication device 200. The IC card 100 has a user information storage section 110 which preliminary stores the flag information and the authentication reference information defined corresponding to the flag information. The authentication device 200 has an authentication information acquisition section 230 which acquires authentication information from a user, and an authentication processing section 220 which retrieves the authentication reference information corresponding to the flag information from the IC card 100, and causes the authentication information acquisition section 230 to acquire authentication information corresponding to the authentication reference information. The authentication processing section 220 compares the acquired authentication information and the retrieved authentication reference information to authenticate whether or not the user is valid on the basis of the comparison result.
