PURPOSE: To provide an automatic aligning apparatus, which is capable of automatically aligning cylindrical articles having one end closed, by inverting the same by use of a rotary disk with V-shaped grooves, cams, guides and others, and positioning the articles correctly in the same direction.

CONSTITUTION: Cylindrical articles 1 with one end closed are transferred from supply rotary disk 2 to main rotary disk 3 which is formed on its surface with V-shaped grooves of a required pattern. On the outer surface of disk 3, there are also formed cams 4 and cams 8. By the cams 4, spindle 5 is moved forward and backward by the aid of roller 6. When the spindle 5 comes into abutment with the closed bottom of the cylindrical article, it is pushed until its bottom is received in the V-shaped groove. Along with rotation of disk 3, cylindrical articles 1 are gradually erected upward by cams 8 and then turned down on the opposite side, with its closed bottom being faced in the opposite direction. Thus, cylindrical articles 1 can be transferred onto transfer conveyor 9 while being aligned correctly.
