PURPOSE: To discriminate whether or not a signal inputted in the visiting mode is a voice or a data by providing a means recording a data inputted to a MO DEM discriminating whether the data is inputted or not and a message recording means being active and recording a voice when it is discriminated in the MO DEM that no data is inputted.
CONSTITUTION: When a caller telephone set sends a message in the visiting mode, a data communication discrimination section 8a of a MODEM 8 discriminates it not being a data and the message is inputted to a message conversion section 23. When a caller data telephone set selects a telephone system VD, the data communication discrimination section 8a discriminates the inputted signal to be a data and it is inputted to a data modulation- demodulation section 8b. The data modulation-demodulation section 8b demodulates the data to a form suitable for a data recording section 9 and sends it to the data recording section 9. The data recording section 9 records the inputted data to light a data display light 10. Thus, whether the inputted signal is a voice or a data is discriminated.
