Abstract:
To reduce the amount of grinding debris to be produced when applying cylindrical grinding to the outer peripheral face of an cylindrical sapphire ingot block.
Auto loader equipment 13 is used for clamping devices 7a, 7b to automatically clamp a workpiece. After the workpiece is clamped once, height measuring equipment HS is used for measuring the height of the outer peripheral face of the clamped workpiece, and after the workpiece is re-clamped to move its C-axis position by a value (Hh-Hm)/2 half a difference between a maximum height (Hh) and a minimum height (Hm), a cup wheel type grinding wheel 10g is used for starting the in-feed cylindrical grinding of the workpiece.
