Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a coating assembly without the necessity of manual wash-up by a press operator for self-washing circulating a liquid coating material in a doctor reservoir and also circulating washing water and air in the doctor reservoir.

CONSTITUTION: A printing unit 14 is a conventional unit and comprises a plate cylinder 16, a blanket cylinder 18 and an impression cylinder 20. A coating material is applied by an auxiliary blanket cylinder 22 mounted on a transfer/ delivery cylinder driving shaft 23 and functioning also as a transfer/delivery cylinder. Namely the protective and/or decorative coating is applied on an auxiliary blanket 22 by a coating roller A, and the coating is applied on freshly printed sheets by the auxiliary blanket 22.
