PURPOSE: To automatically connect an automatic guided tow vehicle and a low deck wagon in particular so as to improve work efficiency by putting discs in eccentric motion, and putting upper and lower eccentric cams, coming in contact with the discs, in vertical motion to move a connecting rod vertically for connection to a truck.

CONSTITUTION: An automatic connector for a vehicle is provided with a case 4 supporting a vertically moved connecting rod 3 and having built-in mechanical power transmission mechanism 5 for vertically moving the connecting rod 3. A motor 6 for transmitting driving force to the mechanical power transmission mechanism 5 is mounted on the case 4. A detecting part 7 for detecting the upper and lower end positions of the connecting rod 3, and an electromagnetic brake 16 actuated by the detection signal of the detecting part 7 are provided at the case 4, on the opposite side to the mounted side of the motor 6. The mechanical power transmission mechanism 5 has plates 9, 10 fixed to the upper and lower parts of the connecting rod 3, with a specified space apart. The connecting rod 3 is vertically moved by the rotation of eccentric discs 11 disposed between the opposed faces of both plates 9, 10 and rotated by the motor 6, and this action is detected by the detecting part 7 to control the electromagnetic brake 16.
