PURPOSE: To remove captured slag easily from a scraper without interrupting the work by providing an inverting mechanism to the tip of the rod of a titled device which can move in parallel and synchonization with molds for casting of ingots.
CONSTITUTION: When molds 1 of equal intervals which contain molten metal 20 and move continuously align to the center of a scraper 17, a truck 5 is synchronized with the molds and starts advancing at an equal speed. At the same time, the moving rods 11, 13 of mechanisms 10, 12 begin to retreat and project respectively. At this time, the tip of the scraper 17 is dipped in the metal 20 and scrapes the slag 19 between positionsIand II floating on the metal 20. When the scraper 17 arrives at the other end of the mold, the scraper is moved upward by extending the rod 11; at the same time, the rod 13 is advanced to move the scraper to the position III. An inverting mechanism 15 operates to invert the scraper 17, by which the scraped slag is dropped into a slag receiving box 18 without wearing the release agent coated on the surface of the scraper.
