PURPOSE: To successively carry each sheet metal in rotation while cooling with a low temperature refrigerant, thus to improve the cooling efficiency by providing a water wheel-shaped carrier device in an adiabatic cooling tub containing a low temperature refrigerant, and putting sheet metals on a plurality of carrier plates.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet metal 4, carried by a carrying-in conveyor 10, slide over an inclined board 24 of a feeder 11 into an adiabatic cooling tub 3, is fed into a space between carrier plates 5, 5. Then, a water wheel-shaped carrier device 7 is rotated by a driving device 8, causing the sheet metal to slip off on the carrier plate 5 and bring into contact with a guide element 9, and to be cooled in rotation transfer in a low temperature refrigerant 2. Then, the sheet metal 4 is drawn out of an outlet 29 by a holding claw 26 of an arm 27 of a working robot 13 and shifted on a sending conveyor 12 with a cylinder driving part 28 of the robot 13 down, being carried to the following process. And an empty carrier plate 5 returns to an inlet 22 of the cooling tub 3 along with the rotation of the carrier device 7.
