PURPOSE: To increase production efficiently by suspending welding heads freely upward and downward movably respectively in a well bucket type and welding members automatically while copying the plural weld lines of said members individually.
CONSTITUTION: A gate type traveling carriage 3 is provided so as to stride over members 1 to be assembled by welding. The carriage 3 is constituted of traveling stanchions 4, 4a provided freely travelably on two lines of rails 2, 2, a transverse beam 5a secured across the top parts of the stanchions 4, 4a, and traveling rails 5. Moving bases 6 are provided freely movably in the transverse direction to the rails 5. The traveling of the carriage 3 is accomplished by means of a driving device 9 provided at the center of the beam 5a. Welding heads 8 are suspended to the lower parts of upward and downward moving rods 7, and are mounted to upward and downward moving bases. Limit switches for upper and lower limits are provided in the upward and downward moving loci of the upward and downward moving bases and when contactors contact with the upper limit switches during welding, the rods 7 are moved upward for a constant time and when the contactors contact with the lower limit switches, the rods 7 are moved downward stepwise.
