To make an automatic developing machine compact, to reduce replenishment, to realize rapid processing and to reduce waste liquid by executing the respective processes of processing extending over the washing or the stabilizing processing from the developing processing by such a course that a photosensitive material is carried through a descending path and an ascending path outside the liquid.
The photosensitive material F supplied to the automatic developing machine 1A enters the developing process 10 from the left upper part and descends in the process 10. Then, it enters the fixing process 30 through squeeze rollers 52 and 53 from the lower part and ascends in the process 30. Besides, it enters the washing or the stabilizing process 40 and it is finished being washed while continuously ascending. Then, it enters the next drying process. In the process 10, plural carrying roller pairs 13 horizontally arranged along the vertical carrying path of the material F are arranged by leaving some interval. Besides, plural liquid storage containers 14 used also as a pair of liquid guides are arranged between the roller pairs 13 by interposing the path of the material F. The material F is U-turned at the lower part and moved to the fixing process 30. However, the U-turn boundary part thereof is provided with the rollers 52 and 53 being the squeeze member.
