PURPOSE: To shorten an access time and to make an automatic disk exchange device small in size and light in weight by providing a disk carrying device to hold a disk in a horizontal condition and to move the disk up and down or to revolve the disk and a disk loading shed to load the disk in a horizontal position.
CONSTITUTION: The title device is provided with a disk carrying device 14 to hold a disk in the horizontal condition, to be freely movable up and down and to revolve the disk 1, disk loading shelves 10a and 10b to horizontally load the disk. Thus, since the disk is carried and loaded in the horizontal position, operation for the position change of the disk is eliminated and a moving distance is short. Then, the access time can be shortened and further, the receiving space efficiency of the disk is improved. Then, the device can be made small in size and light in weight.
