PURPOSE: To automate the polishing work of the doctor blade of a doctor used for a gravure printing machine or the like so as to enable uniform polishing in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: A doctor 3 is fixed to the upper face of a doctor polishing base, and a polishing machine body 16 is placed on the doctor 3. A contact member 29 is provided at the lower part of the polishing machine body 16. A doctor blade 3b is inserted into an opening part 30 provided at the lower face of the contact member 29, and with the self-weight of the polishing machine body 16, the tip of the doctor blade 3b is brought into contact with a rubber pad 31 provided at the innermost part of the opening part 30 through sand paper 27. The polishing machine body 16 is reciprocated along the doctor 3 by the mesh between a rack 20 and a pinion gear 19 driven by an air motor 17 to polish the doctor blade 3b.
