This automatic drain valve, automatically discharging air in a pump when it is started and a liquid from the same discharge port when the pump is stopped, has a valve element arranged between a pump chamber arranged in the upstream and the discharge port arranged in the downstream and an energizing member for energizing this valve element to the upstream, and the drain valve is characterized by making the valve element communicate the pump chamber and the discharge port by forming a circulation path connected to the pump chamber, in a start position when the pump is started, and making the valve element move to the downstream against energizing force of the energizing member to interrupt a downstream communication path connected to the discharge port by a positive pressure in the pump chamber, in an operating position during operation of the pump.
