Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to enable an engine to be restarted quickly while preventing the generation of noise due to the failure of a pinion to engage, in a system wherein an engine that is in the process of stopping is restarted by engaging the pinion. In this automatic engine stopping/restarting device, which automatically stops and restarts an engine while the engine is operating, and which performs a control when the engine is restarted whereby a starter pinion is pushed out and the pinion engages a ring gear directly connected to the crankshaft of the engine, thereby restarting the engine by means of the starter, the rotational speed of the engine is determined, and when the rotational speed is greater than a threshold value, a control is performed whereby the starter motor is energized, and when the rotational speed is equal to or less than the threshold value, the motor is energized only when the pinion has engaged the ring gear.
