PURPOSE: To exchange the electrode without assistance by monitoring a state of the electrode by a picture recognizing small-sized sensor and a picture recognizing monitor and automatically exchanging the electrode by the electrode automatic exchanging device capable of moving vertically and turning.
CONSTITUTION: The state of the electrode 3 is always monitored by the picture recognizing small-sized sensor 2 assembled in a welding torch body 1. This information is transmitted to the picture recognizing monitor 4 and the electrode automatic exchanging device 5. When the picture recognizing monitor 4 judges the electrode as abnormal, after welding work is completed, the welding torch body 1 is moved to the electrode automatic exchanging device 5. The automatic exchanging device 5 separates the electrode 3 by an electrode separating pin 9 which is held by a chuck 6 and transported to an exchange box 10 by an elevating and lowering device 7 and a turning device 8 and exchanged with a new electrode 3 which is transported and fitted to the body 1.
