This automatic focusing camera is provided with auxiliary light sources 1 and 7, a range-finding part 5 for detecting range information, and a control part 10 for performing the focusing arithmetic operation based on the range information. Thus, the passive system focusing is performed. Then, the camera is provided with a decision means 10 for deciding the reliability of the focusing. When the decision means 10 decides that the reliability is low, the light sources 1 and 7 are allowed to emit light and the emitted light quantity is changed.
