Abstract:
PURPOSE:To control vibration caused by a rotor of a tilting pad type bearing, by using a spring between each piston and check valve in oil hole made on a pad holding ring. CONSTITUTION:Lubricating oil flows, through oil holes 10, 12, 15 made on a pad holding ring 6, in each hole 6a on the ring while pushing a check valve 4 against a spring 5 and presses a piston 3 toward a rotor shaft 1, thus the pad 2 being pressed to the shaft with a force F2. A force produced by the circumferential speed of the shaft and the viscosity of oil works as a force F1 on the pad 2 in the wedge direction to keep it away, until F1 is harmonize with F2 for stabilization. Since an increase of oil pressure P1 increases the pressure difference between P1 and P2, the gap between the shaft 1 and pad 2 is decreased and vibration is effectively decreased.
