PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized automatic hard metal engraving machine capable of performing an efficient engraving and giving a good finish to the engraved metal face.

CONSTITUTION: An automatic hard metal engraving machine which comprises a horizontally movable table 22 so controlled as to move in a plane; a chuck mechanism 30 mounted on the table to hold the metal W to be engraved; a main shaft support 13 so controlled as to move vertically relative to the aforesaid plane; spindle motors 16 and 17 mounted on the main shaft support; a rough engraving needle 18a having a tip as in a triangular pyramid form provided at a shaft end 16a of the spindle motor 16; a finish engraving needle 18b having a tip as in a quadrangular pyramid form provided at a shaft end 17a of the spindle motor 17; and a cap 37 for having a cutting oil filled therein provided on the metal W.
