Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic joining system for automatically driven vehicles with which a vehicle on a main lane and a vehicle to join can safely and smoothly join.
SOLUTION: Joining vehicles C4 and C5 automatically traveling on a joining path B are allowed to join with main lane vehicles C1, C2 and C3 automatically traveling on a main lane A by automatic driving for adjusting a distance to the end of a preceding vehicle. In this case, this system is provided with an estimating means for estimating the traveling positions of main lane vehicles C1, C2 and C3, when the joining vehicles C4 and C5 are to reach a joining stirring starting spot P3, from the conditions of joining vehicles C4 and C5 and main lane vehicles C1, C2 and C3 at the time for the joining vehicles C4 and C5 to pass a spot P2 before the joining stirring starting spot P3 for starting the stirring of joining to the main lane A; and a control means for main lane vehicle for controlling the traveling of the main lane vehicles C1, C2 and C3 for joining corresponding to the traveling positions estimated by the estimating means.
