PURPOSE: To improve maching precision, by a method wherein support base of thrust of each of driving shaft for headstock sliding and tool post table sliding is unified and set to a guide bush support table.
CONSTITUTION: In an automatic lathe, a headstock 3 and a tool post 5 are slidably located on a bed 1, and a guide bush 10 is secured on the bed 1. The guide bush 10 is disposed to a guide bush support table 11, and a work piece is supported by the headstock 3 to prevent bending deformation of the work piece due to machining. The driving source of the headstock 3 is a servo motor 12, and its driving force is transmitted to the headstock 3 by means of a ball screw 16 and a nut 17. In which case, the both ends of the ball screw 16 and supported by means of bearings 18 and 19, and thrust is exerted thereon by the bearing 18. The tool post 5 is driven through a ball screw 22 and a nut 23 with the aid of a servo motor 20. In which case, the ball screw 22 is supported by bearings 22 and 24 to exert thrust on the bearing 24.
