PURPOSE: To provide a metal plate handling mechanism for a press brake capable of automatic bending corresponding to a thick and long metal plate and further a metal plate differing in length.

CONSTITUTION: When a horizontal link mechanism is arranged on a pedestal 1, vertical link mechanism are arranged on both right and left sides in the width direction of the pedestal to the horizontal link, in the respective link rods, rotary nodes located in the front side of the pedestal are mounted rotatably on this pedestal and a metal plate mounting frame 3 arranged in parallel above the pedestal and, at the same time, rotary nodes located on the other side of the pedestal are mounted on the pedestal and the mounting frame so that they can move in the backward and forward direction of the pedestal and rotate freely. Two sets of upwards and downwards moving mechanisms which move mobile rotary nodes of the vertical link and elevate/ lower the mounting frame so that the mobile rotary nodes move the horizontal link in a straight line are arranged back and forth. An elevating plate moved vertically by that operation is provided rotatably round a vertical axis on the upper part of the upwards and downwards moving mechanism and a suction means is provided for a holding mechanism on the plate so that the width can be adjusted.
