To provide an automatic meter reading system capable of completely automating meter reading of a meter.
The automatic meter reading system includes: an imaging apparatus 10 for periodically picking up an image of a meter reading window 200 on which a measured value of a meter 2 is displayed; an automatic meter reading device 20 for performing character recognition processing of the image taken from the meter reading window which is periodically taken by the imaging apparatus and sequentially recognizing numerals displayed on the meter reading window; and a measured value notification device 40 for notifying a prescribed external device of the measured value according to an inspection results of the automatic meter reading device 20. Only when numerals recognized by character recognition are different from numerals recognized by preceding character recognition, the automatic meter reading device 20 transmits a pulse signal to the measured value notification device 40. The measured value notification device 40 counts pulse signals and derives a measured value from a count value.
