To provide an automatic meter reading unit capable of transmitting meter reading information from a gas meter with a prepaid function to a central monitoring center and verifying the remaining amount of money of a gas utility rate paid in advance as information related to the prepaid function or the remaining useable quantity of gas more effectively than before.
The automatic meter reading unit 5 for transmitting meter reading information from the gas meter 1 with the prepaid function to the central monitoring center is provided with a display means 45 for switching between and displaying the meter reading information and the information related to the prepaid function. The display means 45 displays an indicator having a gas utility rate or a useable quantity of gas set by payment in advance as a full scale for indicating the remaining amount of prepaid money, which is reduced with the consumption of gas, or the remaining useable quantity of prepaid gas in a bar chart display, which has a maximum height at the time of the full scale and is reduced in height at a prescribed rate in the direction of a zero scale, when the display means 45 displays the information related to the prepaid function.
