PURPOSE: To obtain an automatic MOL measuring device in which leakage of a record signal into a reproducing signal is prevented and signal processing is easily executed by alternately recording and reproducing a test signal of which level is changed intermittently in each different frequency to attain A/D conversion of practical maximum reproducing output level MOL.
CONSTITUTION: A bias oscillator 6 and a level controlling circuit 16 are controlled by a CPU 9 in accordance with the operation of a start switch 14 and a test signal outputted from a test signal generator 15 of which level is intermittently changed in each frequency is recorded in a magnetic tape 8 through a recording head 7. The record is reproduced through a reproducing head 10 alternately with recording at the less leakage of the record signal into a reproducing signal and practical maximum output level MOL based upon the comparison with a signal corresponding to a test signal from the CPU 9 is detected and A/D converasion is executed, so that a digital MOL detecting signal of which is simplified signal processing is obtained. Thus the automatic MOL measuring device in which leakage of the record signals into the reproducing signals is prevented and easily execute signal processing is obtained.
