PURPOSE: To detect the leakage of cooling water for the walls of a blast furnace in the furnace and the damage of the furnace walls quickly, by receiving the cooling water in a receiving tray provided to an automatic traveling car which travels along the discharge through for the cooling water and measuring the flow rate and temp. of the discharge water in said stage.
CONSTITUTION: Discharge thoughs 4a are provided to respective discharge pipes 35 for discharging cooling water from the many cooling boxes embedded in the shaft part of a blast furnace, and the waste cooling water is dropped therein and is thus discharged. The discharge water dropping from each discharge pipe 35 is received in the receiving tray 62 mounted to an automatic traveling car 6 which travels along the troughs 4 in this stage, from which tray the water overflows into the troughs 4a. The force generated by the discharge water dropped into the tray 62 is detected with a force detector 64, and the flow rate of the discharge water is determined in accordance with the detected force thereof, and is compared with the flow rate of the water supplied into the cooling boxes, whereby the leakeage of the cooling water in the furnace is detected quickly. It is possible to detect the damage of the inside wall of the furnace owing to an abnormal rise of temp. by meausring the temp. of the cooling water with a temp. detector 65 provided in the tray 62.
